AmeriCorps VISTA
AmeriCorps VISTA—Working to Provide Long-term Solutions to Poverty
AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) provides full-time members to nonprofit, faith-based and other community organizations, and public agencies to create and expand programs that bring low-income individuals and communities out of poverty. AmeriCorps VISTA members leverage human, financial, and material resources to increase the capacity of thousands of low-income areas across the country to address challenges and improve their lives and communities.

Veterans Community Outreach Team
The Veterans Community Outreach Team works to build the capacity of services to veterans and military families in West Virginia. Depending on the member's placement, VISTAs may help with financial literacy resources for veterans; connect organizations that serve veterans; identify local community resources and key stakeholders; develop partnerships for services to veterans and military families; and work in connection with colleges and universities on veteran services. Please email or call Waylon Bryant at waylon.a.bryant@wv.gov or 304-558-0111 for more information on these opportunities.

Senior Corps
Tapping the Rich Experience, Skills, and Talents of the 55+ Population. Through grants and other resources—including the energy and efforts of citizens age 55 and over—Senior Corps helps meet the needs and challenges of America’s communities. Grants administered through Senior Corps provide funding for three special programs:
Foster Grandparents connects volunteers age 55 and over with children and young people with exceptional needs.
The Senior Companion Program brings together volunteers age 55 and over with adults in their community who have difficulty with the simple tasks of day-to-day living.
RSVP offers "one stop shopping" for all volunteers 55 and over who want to find challenging, rewarding, and significant service opportunities in their local communities.
